IATF 16949 is an international international quality management system standard in the automotive industry.
The history of this standard was published in 1994, led by BIG3 (Chrysler, Ford, GM) and the truck industry, with the ISO 9001-specific requirements of the automotive industry. 。 The US BIG3 and the truck industry have been recognized as a de facto industrial standard, as a result of purchasing QS-9000 certification acquisitions for vendors that supply automotive parts and materials.
Later, the QS-9000 was integrated into the quality system standard "ISO/TS 16949" created by the European Automobile Industries, and was issued in 2016 as IATF 16949: 2016.
